By the recommendation of the General Conference of UNESCO, World Press Freedom Day was established by the UN General Assembly decision 48/432 dated December 20, 1993. The UNGA offered to hold it yearly on May 3, Anniversary Day of the Windhoek Declaration
This Declaration is addressed to a free, independent and pluralistic media all around the world, noting that freedom of information is one of the fundamental human rights. Read more...

The Delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic , has attended the 10th Conference of the Central Asia Border Security Initiative (CABSI), which was held on April 16-17, 2012, in Vienna.
The Delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic, consisting of the First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on National Security - Commander of Border Troops Z.Tilenov, Deputy Head of the Government Office - Head of the Department of Defense, Security and Emergency K.Musaev, Chairman of the State Customs Service K.Kulmatov, Vice-Chairman of the State Service for Drug Control D.Otorbaev and Director of the Department of International Organizations and Security of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs U.Dzhusupov has attended the 10th Conference of the Central Asia Border Security Initiative (CABSI), which was held on April 16-17, 2012, in Vienna. The Conference was organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Austrian Republic in cooperation with the European Union, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the United Nations Development Programme. On April 17, 2012, a round table of representatives of tourism business and representatives of the national applied arts of Kyrgyz Republic was held in MFA KR and the assistance of the foreign ministry in promoting kyrgyz tourism was discussed.
Representatives of the travel industry briefly acquainted with the activities of the foreign ministry and diplomatic missions in the promotion of tourism products abroad. They also discussed the issues and proposals relating to the activities of the Consular Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov is going to visit the Kyrgyz Republic in April 4-5, 2012.
At the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ruslan Kazakbaev, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov is going to visit the Kyrgyz Republic in April 4-5, 2012. The visit is timed to the 20th anniversary of the signing the Protocol in March 20, 1992 on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation.

The Delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, headed by Mr. N.Aitmurzaev, the Deputy State Minister of MFA of the Kyrgyz Republic have participated in the Fifth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA V).
To participation, in RECCA H.E. Z.Rasul, the Minister of foreign affairs of Afghanistan and H.E. H.Zarifi, the Minister of foreign affairs of Tajikistan invited the Heads of MFA’s of 50 countries, the international partners of Afghanistan, stakeholders of the region, representatives of the UN, SCO, OSCE and other international organizations and financial institutes.

On March 23, 2012, H. E. R.Kazakbaev, the Minister of foreign affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic received H.E. Mr.Migel Maury Buendia, Apostolic NunFcio Ambassador of Vatican in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The primary purpose of the visit of Vatican Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan was to discuss bilateral cooperation on the threshold of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Vatican, which were established on August 27, 1992. During the meeting the development of the legal base of the bilateral cooperation was also discussed.

Ambassy of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Federative Republic of Germany reports.
On March 20, 2012, there have been held a meeting between His Excellence B.Otunbaev, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Federative Republic of Germany with the members of the Board of the Kyrgyz-German society on the cultural affairs between two countries. On March 20, 2012, there was conducted a meeting between D.Kemelova, the Deputy Minister of foreign affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ambassador Janez Lenarcic, the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
During the meeting D.Kemelova has informed on the course of democratic reforms, carried out by the Kyrgyz Government, for strengthening of the parliamentary system and for the development of human rights. Besides, D.Kemelova highlighted the importance for the Kyrgyz Republic of the reforms of the judicial system and of the law enforcement agencies.

On March 9, 2012, in New-York, the gala reception of six Member countries, devoted to the 20th anniversary of the entry to the UN, was hosted. These countries are: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
Among the guests of the gala reception were: Mr. Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Heads of Diplomatic Missions, the representatives of the leading international organizations: UNICEF, UNDP, UNESCO, the UN Member countries and also the representatives of business and social community. L.Imanalieva - the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Austria, currently the Chair of the OSCE Forum for the security cooperation, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the OSCE made a welcoming speech at the 22nd AIAM.
The Ambassador L.Imanalieva emphasized the progress gained in renewal of the Vienna document from the last AIAM in 2011, also was noted the importance to discuss the further fulfillment of the obligations to conduct a transparent policy in the military sphere by the countries-participants.

On March 7-8, 2012, the delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic, headed by D.Kemelova - the Deputy of MFA of the Kyrgyz Republic has participated in the conference “Water Diplomacy in Central Asia”, which was organized by the Government of Germany.
The Heads of MFA and the water departments of Central Asia, Germany, representatives from EU, EEC of UN, OSCE and donors organizations have taken participation in the work of the conference. Also the representatives from Afghanistan were invited as observers.

The World’s Leading Travel Trade Show ITB-2012 was held in the largest Berlin’s exhibition complex “Messe-Berlin” from March 6 to March 11, 2012.
The representatives of the Kyrgyz tourism associations and companies participated in this fair with the assistance of the Kyrgyz Republic Embassy in Germany and the International Business Council of Kyrgyzstan. The delegation was headed by Ibragim Junusov, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in the USA and Canada Muktar Jumaliev spoke at the international conference on mining, held in Toronto.
In the speech the Ambassador talked about the political reforms in Kyrgyzstan and also about the economical transformations in the Kyrgyz Republic. In the focus were also the priority projects in the mining industry as well as the reforms in the subsoil and the mining industry. Read more...
